May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month

Hello all,
May is lyme disease awareness month and because this disease has such a huge impact on my life i decided this year i was gonna do whatever i could to bring a little bit of attention to it. I have been sick 3 and a half years, diagnosed with lyme 3 years ago and i have spent the last 3 years trying to find any treatment that will work to squash this bug out of me. I had never heard of lyme before i was told i had it and i didnt understand at first how i even got it because i am not an outdoors kinda girl and i never remember a tick or a rash. I never would have guessed one tiny little tick could cause me so many problems. i'm only 24 and i have to take 19 different medications a day and go 5 days a week to the hospital to receive iv antibiotics. I had to drop out of college before finishing my degree and i have had to sit back and watch as all my friends graduated,got married, bought houses and had children and it sucks! There is so little known about lyme and right now prevention is the only sure-fire way of staying healthy.
I have somehow managed to talk some of the amazing designers at kjoistudios to help me in a blog hop for the whole month of may. each week a new outdoors themed kit will be posted for free with a fact about the disease. Please take some time to actually read the facts when you snag our freebies! man i am so stinkin blessed, i got this amazing tablet for christmas from my parents which i am having so much fun playing with and a new printer which i havent had time to even take out of the box haha. i also got a new digi cam from my sister but it was a serious problem..... she got it for me on black friday from walmart ( samsung BL103walmart exclusive 10.2 mp camera) and it looked so cool and i was so happy and then i tried using it haha. none of my pictures would shoot clear, no matter what setting used or with the tripod etc etc and so i googled it last night to see if maybe i was doing something wrong. turns out this model is crap and everyone has been having problems with it because although it says 10.2mp it really is only about the quality of a 3mp. i was really upset because i didnt want to hurt my sister's feelings but i knew it would need to be taken back. i was scared about taking it back because i read all the other peoples' comments saying walmart refused to give refunds on this product and i didnt really know what to do about it. i also checked walmart.com and they didnt have ANY cameras in the same price range and so i figured it would mean no new camera( which didnt bother me too bad because my current cam still works so a newbie wasnt a need but just a big want.)
so i called my sis last night and explained the situation and she called walmart this morning. after talking to a few different managers they finally agreed to give her a gift card with the camera purchase price on it. i didnt even want to go look at cameras there to find a replacement because there were none in her price range but she made me. we found a really nice one( 8mp canon powershot A590IS) and after a little grumbling on my part she decided to get it. only problem was that turns out of all the cameras we looked at the one we actually picked was out of stock haha. so we had to go to a walmart 30 mins away to pick one up which wasnt too big a deal because we had to go to that walmart to get our family portrait taken anyways.
this camera is amazing! back when i shot 35mm i had a canon rebel g( slr) and even though i loved the quality of those pictures i made the leap to digital and sold the rebel. this canon we got today is as close to a dslr as one can imagine and i am completely in shock at how amazing it is! i keep telling everyone, " hey i took a picture of my pants!" cuz the macro is so good that it took quality pix of my jeans while i was wearing them! now all i need is for it to be spring so i can take pictures of the pretty flowers! my sister and bro-in-law rock and i cant even begin to explain how happy i am right now. we dont spend that kinda money on each other for gifts because we are all pretty strapped for cash and i cant express how much it means to me that they bought me this awesome present! now they both say its no big deal cuz i take care of my nephew for them when they need and i keep trying to explain to everyone that duh it is my job as an auntie to watch my nephew but i guess they dont see it the same way haha. oooooooh and i am gonna start doing some commercial use stuff so be watching for that!

ok now onto my little blurb about how awesome my family is:

i just wanted to take a minute to talk about how amazingly blessed i am. my family is poor, not starving poor but paycheck to paycheck living poor. my parents have always tried to make christmas special in an effort to make up for all the other times they cant buy us what we want and this year was hella crazy! my brother is deploying to afghanistan in march and we have been planning for a long time to save up to be able to buy him a laptop. we got a good deal on a dell during the thanksgiving sales and i assumed that having had to spend that large a chunk of money my family wouldnt be able to get a whole lot for everyone else. which didnt matter at all, in fact my sister and i told my mother getting the laptop was most important and if that meant she had to spend less on us that was no problem at all. so this morning while opening presents i was completely floored by what i got to unwrap!
i got new clothes ( which i am so happy for cuz i have lost so much weight my clothes dont fit anymore) and some books i have been dying to get for years but then i unwrapped the big stuff and the tears started to flow haha. my parents got me a bamboo tablet( which came with adobe elements 6 yay) and i was completely shocked because it is way out of their budget. then i started opening the stuff my sis and bro-in-law gave me and it was just too much haha. i am now the proud owner of a 10.2 MP samsung and a wireless lexmark printer! i cant believe how blessed i am, and not just cuz i got some really cool gifts but also cuz i got to have some really amazingly fun times with my family.
we always try to make a special effort at holidays to get quality time in but this year was different for 2 very big reasons. 1) this will be our last holiday with my brother before he deploys and 2) a few months ago there was a huge drama with some of my extended family and since then we have ceased to have contact with that side of the family and because of this they were not at our christmas celebration this year. now to some of you this may sound like a bad thing but it is the first time in 12 years we have been able to have a tension-free holiday and it was just awesome. we have sorta had to ignore the crazy and dramafilled behavior of those people for the past 12 years and it has resulted in my entire family dreading and hating holiday events. it is very exhausting having to pretend that a crazy person is in the room haha. and i dont just mean crazy cuz i dont like her but straight-up belongs in a psych ward crazy!since that part of the family decided to go extra special crazy and make my side of the family the enemy we have stopped communicating with them all together. so our christmas eve dinner and our christmas day events were so much fun, for the 1st time in 12 years we could actually have a family event we all enjoyed and will treasure for years to come! i didnt need to be afraid to go to a room by myself or pretend like i didnt just see what i just saw etc etc. i forgot how much fun my family is when we dont have to cover up for the crazy. i have wrote many a blog about this situation before and either never posted it or deleted it shortly after i posted it just cuz i hate being invloved with the drama and when it is all over it doesnt really matter if EVERYONE knows she is crazy, my family knows and in fact we laugh about her blogs about her fake little life that she describes in great detail( details that are completely fabricated which blows our mind because we see her talking about something about her "life" on her blog and since we know her we know she is lying) and laughing about it helps us deal with it. when life hands you a problem you arent sure how to handle the best thing to do is 1) pray and 2) laugh your ass off about it haha!

anyways, God Bless Ya'll and be watching my blog cuz as soon as i figure out how to use all these cool things i just got i am gonna be designing up a storm!

ok so i entered a photo contest at a site called photo laurettes or something like that and all i had seen before entering had made it sound like a real contest. turns out it is just a site that steals peoples images and sells them claiming they are for use of promoting the contest. apparently the contest isnt even real and i am way bummed because i entered one of my fave photos and they wont give me anything saying they will not use it claiming i gave them copyright. i read the copyright very closely and it said nothing about them using my images for profit! grrrr i am mad!

health update:
my lyme disease is getting pretty bad right now. the past 6 weeks it has been going down hill and today my dr made some big changes in my treatment plan( upping the dose of iv meds as well as changing it from 4 days a week to 5 days a week ugh.) so i probably will be dead to the world for a few weeks. when i get feeling better trust me i will be throwing them freebies at ya left and right!

i have been super sick from all the new meds they put me on for my lyme disease so i have been MIA but in that time i have managed to finally finish a kit. its a cute christmas kit with a great retro feel. its called Spiffy Christmas and it is available in my Busyscrappin store and my kjoistudios store for 2 bucks. i will get it up in kjoistudios soon but it is taking a very long time to upload it and i think it wont get done today.

Now onto now scraprelated issues:
As i have mentioned a lot before, i have lyme disease and have been in and out of dr's offices for the past 2 and half years trying to find a treatment that works. today i went in for my monthly visit to touch base with my dr and we discussed a lot of stuff. she just got back from the big lyme confrence and came home armed with a whole host of new info. so we are gonna try a bunch of new stuff. a new antibiotic to go along with the 2 i am currently on and 3 other meds to help with various other issues arising from my lymes. it was such a long day! first off i got up at 5:30 to get ready before my nephew got here. then dr at 830am. tb test and then ekg at around 10am then 65 cc's of blood drawn( thats a lot of stinkin blood!) then my iv meds and then more lab work. i didnt get out of the hospital til 1pm. i ran quick and got some food, went to vote and then headed home to try to get my nephew down for a nap. i am so tired right now. i have so much to do but i think i am heading to bed soon instead.i was hoping to have my christmas kit finished and in the stores by today but it just isnt gonna happen. soon though haha.

i am very blessed to be a part of the busyscrappin designers team and today in celebration of halloween we are doing a blog train. i dont myself get very into halloween due to the not so good side of it( based on my christian beliefs) but i will admit i greatly enjoy dressing my nephew thomas up and take advantage of any chance to do so without getting weird looks from the neighbors haha. so here is my little freebie, it is more fall inspired instead of halloween related. all the kits these ladies have made are just adorable and i look forward to getting a chance to play around with them all after i get done taking pix of my nephew! the list is below, leave some love to all my girls along the way.

this is how i scrap at night because my baby wont let me be!
hello all,
this post is not at all scrap related but my kitty is cute so get over it haha.besides i most of my pages i scrap are either my nephew thomas or my cat so i figured it was ok haha.2 years ago today i rode out to a farm with my sister and picked up my little furbaby. i am not one of those party-throwing cake-getting cat owners( not that there is anything wrong with that) but i decided that since i have soooooooo many pix of my baby i would post some of my fave here now. before i post my pix i just wanted to write a little blurb about my kitty. 1st off my whole life i have been a cat person but we could never have one because myself and my bro are allergic plus we had a dog who was not pro-cat. we moved into the country 3 years ago and once my family got out here we realized( when i say we i really mean my mom haha) that we needed a mouser. after waiting forever to get a cat i took advantage of my mother's hatred for mice and bugged the crap out of her til she said ok we can look for a cat. the same day she said we could "look" for a cat i had one because i grabbed the paper and called every single number that had ads for free kittens. being so late in the year it was hard to find many that were small and by the time i had called the people all their kittens were gone. the last family i called said they had 3 or 4 and to come get whatever ones i wanted. we drove in and were greeted by a circus of animals in the driveway. after we knocked 2 little girls came out to help us find the kittens, Gus was the first one we managed to catch and like 2 mins after we caught him i called my mom and told her i was bringing him home haha. i didnt even look at the other kittens! they said he was 6 weeks old but he looked like at least 12 weeks. i didnt care though. my mom wanted to name him pumpkin or morris since he is orange but i decided right away on Gus-Gus after the fat mouse in cinderella. he can be quite the little pisshead but i loves him! below are all the photos, enjoy.
p.s. we are still allergic to cats but Gus doesnt make either of us sneeze which is very weird!

again with the arm around something, this one i admit i changed from my books to the pen cuz i thought the pen was cuter. he didnt even wake up when i moved the books haha

yep, he ate my scrapbooking stickers one day while i was trying to get some pages done

i think cuz they were foam they smelled weird so he liked them.

he likes to get in the way when i am trying to do something so that i have to pay attention to him

he wears my nephew's clothes well haha

after he got neutered. we had to put the collar on cuz he was licking too much and he was very mad at me!

i am always putting things on him while he sleeps

he likes to sleep on things i use so i often find him inside my backpacks and my clothes i have worn and my computer bag haha

my nephew and i catch caterpillars and gus was trying to get them out of the jar to play with them( dont worry he didnt hurt any of them, in fact they are in cocoons in a jar in my house!)

my dad told us he got in there by himself but we all know better haha

ok so first off i have been trying for like 20 mins to get into my blog to write a post and i kept getting security errors saying my address was not approved to access my blog which is silly cuz this is the address i always use to get into my blog haha. so i am going to go and try to change my passwords and what not but i wanted to get a note out in case i have been hacked haha.
ok and now on to the award!so i have been very blessed to have been a part of the KJOI Studios designer contest. even if i hadnt been accepted into the store i would still cherish the experiences i have had there. all the ladies are amazing and so very helpful which is great for me because i am very new at designing and have A LOT to learn! one of these very helpful and amazing women mITSYBELLE gave me the i love your blog award.

ugh kidney stones

hey all,
a week ago tomorrow i went to the emergency room because i was in severe pain. they sent me home with some pain meds and said they suspected kidney stones. the next morning i had to go back in because i was unable to hold down the pain meds they gave me so i was still in a lot of pain. after a bunch of problems and 3 hours of my life wasted they gave antinausea meds and new pain meds and sent me on my way. it is now friday and i still havent passed the stones ugh. i went to my family dr who says i am still peeing blood which means i must not be drinking enough fluids so i am sitting here with a gallon jug of ice water trying my best to wash these little buggers away. the meds i am on make me very sleepy so i havent gotten a whole lot of anything done but i promise i am gonna start handing out the freebies once i pass these stones. in the mean time head over to my store at busy scrappin( link on the side of my blog) and look at all the awesome kits available. plus we have like 18 challenges for u guys in the forums and most of them have freebies attached! now onto my cranky rant.... i live in southern mn, 45 mins from mayo clinc and despite all my health problems i have intenionally avoided the hospital because of the reputation it has with the locals. i have finally come to a point healthwise where i had no choice but to agree to see a specialist there. so i made my appointment and i am there right now. i have been here since 7:15am ugh. the locals are all right, this is a horrible place to come. the doctors are rude, the place is huge and there are no little maps for u to follow, staff is unhelpful, the place is a total pigsty for reals and after finally getting into the first part of my appointment for the day i found out i could have gone to another hospital closer to me and that i know for a fact has better service. grrrr. i am still waiting for the last part of my appointment of the day and after asking every person i came across finally found out how to connect to the internet( there was a whole stinkin login process and approval etc etc ugh) and the only places that have tables are all the way across the room from where the plug ins are and my battery is almost dead grrrr. anyways long story short i am kinda in a bad mood now and i wanted to get my new freebie loaded for u guys and the connection is so slow it is never gonna happen at this place. tomorrow hopefully!

i am so excited to inform u all that i got accepted into busyscrappin yay yay yay! i found out last night and i am still trying to get all the details and figure out what i need to do to get my part in the store set up and what not but i am just so excited! once i get it all ready im sure i will post a special little bonus for u guys as a thank you for making designing so much fun for me. busyscrappin is where robyn( robyn's chic scraps, who i ct for) sells her stuff so i cant wait to get started over there!

went to the scrapfest 2008 in minneaplois and i actually didnt have very much fun this year. we didnt get to do any classes or crops or anything. we got some good deals in the bargain bin but there was a line out the door at the scrap store archivers so we couldnt go in there. then when i tried to take my nephew down to see the fishies in the underwater aquarium there were so many people that we had to rush through and leave because people were pushing and being rude and stuff. then the cherry on the sucky sunday was that i didnt find a single piece of clothing to buy! i had went with the intention of buying some dress clothes since i dont really have any and i just started teaching sunday school at my church and need to dress up. everything i tried up was way too long or too tight. no matter the size i tried on i just couldnt find anything that was worth buying. i finally got so frustrated that i went to barnes and noble and bought a book then went to the car and read for a few hours while my sister and mom finished shopping. ugh. anyways, its all good cuz i had good news waiting for me in my inbox when i got home haha.

ok here is the freebie i promised. i was going to post it tomorrow but then i realized it wouldnt be on digifree til saturday then so i decided to do it early! snag this one while u can because it wont be free for long. i originally said i was going to leave it up for a week but i have changed my mind and decided it will be up until september 9th( which is a tuesday. after that i am going to take it down from 4shared and probably try to sell it somewhere. the kjoi site is still having problems so the big bday bash and designer announcements have been delayed which means the blog hop is delayed as well because we cant go giving away our identities before the contest is over haha.

my grandfather died 4 years ago( september 5th 2004) from complications caused by Parkinson's disease. I watched the disease rob him of his freedom, his mobility, his independence, his physical health and ultimatly his life. the baseball images i used are items i scanned from the collection of memorbilia he has left as his legacy ( to my family anways haha). the handwritting featured on the papers as an overlay is a collage of his pages of writings on one of the items he collected besides baseball which is barbed wire. i know that sounds like a weird thing to collect but my grandfather farmed, his father farmed etc etc and also he found some AMAZINGLY beautiful barbed wire! the tou lists the commercial use items i did use but i am trying really hard to use less and less cu items. oh and i know money is tight right now for everybody but if u have some extra money and u like this kit please go donate money to the parkinson's foundation to aid in finding a cure!

ok so in less than a week the winners of the kjoi studios designer contest will be announced, i cant believe it has been 4 weeks already! i honestly dont believe i will be picked as one of the designers but i dont care too much. this was my first ever design contest and it was super fun. i learned so much from these amazing women that it was so worth it to participate! on the 7th the new designers will be announced and shortly after the announcement ( i think the same day or the day after) there is going to be a blog hop featuring most of the designers who competed . there are gonna be loads of freebies so u will totally have to check it out. i will post a freebie kit for this blog hop which coordinates with the vintage baseball kit that i am giving away on friday. u should grab that freebie, called For Edward, asap because it will only be up for free until the 12th at which time i will take it down as well as the add on i am making for the kjoi blog hop and most likely offer it for sale somewhere on the web( not sure where yet as i do not have a store.) i am doing this kit for my grandfather who passed away 4 years ago( September 5th 2004 hence the fact it will be offered on sept 5th.) also kjoistudios.com is celebrating their 1 yr bday on the 7th and there is gonna be some awesome stuff happening at the site that day including a bunch of freebies done in the kjoi colors( hint hint i made a little kit for it and i think most of the contestants did as well) so anyways one last thing for today, i am in another contest which just started today. it is over at stone accent studios and week one's theme is honor our heroes. no certain colors but we are supposed to do something to show support for our soldiers and policemen etc etc. i am really excited to see how the kits all turn out. this contest is a little different, i am allowed to design under my name instead of a number and only the top 75 percent move on to the next week's rounds. so u will all have to vote to keep me in! ok i'm off for now but i will be posting my baseball kit on friday for u all so remember to check back!

freebie alert!!!!!! as i have mentioned before i am particpating in the designer contest over at kjoi studios. it runs for 4 weeks and each week we have a new theme and color palette to work with. why do u care u say????? well there are 38 designers and so 38 different freebie kits each week!!!!! i cant tell u which contestant i am but beloew is a pic of just a small sampling of the kits available( my preview page is maybe shown below in with all the rest of the previews, which kara said was ok to say as long as i didnt identify myself or give too big of a hint!) so go get some freebies, leave us some love in the gallery and VOTE( u get to pick 4 designs u like for the week which is awesome). now u do have to register in the shop and the forum to be able to download and leave comments but it is so worth it, all the ladies at the site are amazing plus if u do it now then the next 3 weeks u wont have to worry about it all u have to do is vote and download!

yay i found out today that i won the gold star challenge at ahhh scrap! this is my first ever scrap contest i have won and i am so excited! i used the kit dear diary by robyn's chic scraps. this kit is only available at busyscrappin( link is on the side of my blog over there->). go buy the kit cuz it is super cute and perfect for back to school stuff!

ok so i managed to get a few pages done today using the kits i got from alisha. the first one( pink and black and girly) was made using her arctic blooms kit and the other 2 pages were made with her urban wars kit. all her kits are available at ahhh scrap just like robyn's kits are! oh and the 2 pages made with urban wars were made to sit side by side hence the very similar look of them.

here is the layout i made for the scraplift challenge this month at scraphead. check out the site and go look at the page that was used this month for the challenge. this was my first try ever at a scraplift, it was fun!

i used the summer breeze kit by robyn's chic scraps ( available at ahhh scrap and busy scrappin.) the dog bone is a recolored version of an emb by the maltese scrapper.
